One of the things I’m often asked is “How did all this get started?”
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved teaching people and had an unwavering desire to help them challenge what they think is possible and help them in any way I knew how to help them reach their goals…
And I also have an insatiable appetite in knowing how to be MY best FIRST (you know the kind of fulfillment that lights you up and you can’t just help but share)
That’s what first led me to open yoga studios…and then developed into what you see now…goal setting, mindset and leadership work!
Now let me pause here just for a moment…that process WAS NOT EASY!
And there were plenty of times I didn’t feel like I knew what to do, or didn’t have anything of value to share…
In fact, when I started to feel like I wanted to add more value to others (in more ways than just on my mat), it was NOT my plan to have to leave ALL the comforts of my studios or the community I had loved so much and built.
But if I were to trace that back…I think it started first in an unforeseen blessing that showed up as a break up that began to shake the foundation of what I knew to be true.
Because of my love for personal growth and adding value to others I remember asking God to show me WHY this was happening and allow me to use the lessons He must have known I needed in order to greater serve.
This one simple request got me very intentional in my own personal tools and led me to connect with some of the industry’s best in leadership and personal growth.
But even with all the amazing tools I learned (and grew to love) I still felt like something was missing. Something that was at the very core of who I am and pivotal in my quest to even start down this path.
What I knew as God the yoga/self help world often only identified as “the universe” and the many leadership mentors that I first had ( and would silently “stalk”) through books and courses didn’t even speak of.
And quite frankly all the inspired insight, guidance and peace I always experienced back in church sometimes lacked the practical tools to see it through. And this constant pulling of my heart that I had learned not to ignore caused the next question and major gut check –
Was I willing to do my part on the request I had made of God and move beyond just the “passion/desire” of needing and wanting to share and sacrifice my own comforts to follow through? Was I willing to not just complain or criticize what I felt was lacking in other influencer sharing and go out on a limb and create something new?
SEEK. KNOCK. ASK
I knew my quivering (and somewhat fearful) YES would lead me down a greater path that I wondered if I was “good enough” to take.
See God gives us a vision but doesn’t let us in on every step we’ll need to make. I think that’s by His perfect design, so we can learn to rely on His strength while He develops ours.
Because let’s be honest if we knew the winding path and sometimes darkness of doubt we would have to battle and face I think few of us in our right minds would willingly even take the first step.
I can tell you that decision to change my role and involvement with my studios was not easy. Again, I had never intended on selling them and the process in which it happened was not completely of my own, but it allowed me to become aware of God’s faithful promise that I can now wisely share …
when He promises what is intended for bad will ultimately be used for our good (Romans 8:28) – it’s true.
And if you believe everything happens for a MUCH BIGGER reason (which I wholeheartedly do) then that also means that everything that happens is necessary.
The declarations I now make over my life are not ones of fear but of immeasurable faith.
Because I trust we are not given a spirit of timidity, but one of power, love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). That we are each created in God’s handiwork for good works that He has prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). That He did not intend for us to continue living in such a small way when He came to give us life to the FULL (John 10:10). And you will be blessed beyond what you think is even possible when you create a life of purpose and use YOUR gifts to both honor God and love others.
So I am always humbled by the amazing ways God allows me to be used and I am hoping here I can (in some small) continue to add value by helping you.
You don’t need to be a Christian to follow Move in Faith. In fact when I speak it’s not often in church. My calling is not to convert you, but it is to connect you to a spiritual relationship of your own understanding (as I share from my own). To invite you to consider the intentions of different scriptures. And then encourage you to bravely challenge your own convictions by boldly asking yourself if you would live your life different if you believed they were true.
I am no guru and I certainly do not have all the answers figured out. In fact I face uncertainty, self-doubt and make personal mistakes every day (many of which I promise to keep the vulnerability in sharing here).
But what I lack in perfection I make up for in faith’s confidence and commitment. My work here is to provide thought provoking ideas, timeless truth, and be open and honest with the best of what I am learning and living so I can fulfill my unwavering devotion to help you create a life of purpose and reach your limitless potential too.
